Orval Abbey is one of the most remarkable Cistercian abbeys in Belgium. Come and discover this place, steeped in history and renowned for its Trappist beer in one of the most beautiful regions of Belgium, the Gaume region. The Abbey, founded in 1132, is still occupied by a community of monks who produce the famous Orval beer and its cheese. The secrets of the abbey’s brewing know-how will be presented to you in its museum. To enhance your visit, discover the Monastic Museum (history, iron and steel industry, sacred art), watch an audio-visual presentation on the history of the monastery and the life of the monks, and walk through the medicinal plant garden and the nearby traditional pharmacy museum.
